Check for Product Recalls
This is an often-overlooked task, but one that is beneficial for ensuring new products introduced into the home are safe. The Consumer Product Safety Commission monitors and reports on recalled products. The list includes household items such as defective kitchen appliances, washing machines and dryers, toys, and more. Some defective products may heat up and cause fire hazards, emit fumes that are harmful, or have defective parts that may cause injury.
